The second Host City Awards is returning to Glasgow, celebrating achievements in hosting, delivering and promoting major events.
Forming part of Host City 2025, the awards will take place at the Technology & Innovation Centre on 1-3 December. The winners will be announced at the awards dinner on 2 December.
This year’s Host City Awards will spotlight excellence across the events industry, with categories recognising everything from sustainability and innovation to economic impact and fan engagement. Among the honours are awards for Best Event Engagement, Most Sustainable Event, and Outstanding Economic Impact, celebrating destinations and events that punch above their weight in reach, legacy, and financial return.
Other categories highlight commercial creativity and technological innovation, including Best Commercial Strategy, Innovation in Event Technology, and Best Use of AI. Infrastructure and delivery also take centre stage, with awards for Best Event Infrastructure Solution and Excellence in Event Delivery, while the Strongest Fan Growth award will go to events that have meaningfully expanded and monetised their audience base.
The judging panel includes experts such as Jennifer Arnold, vice president of the U.S. Soccer Foundation; Iain Edmonson, legacy delivery; Brian Lewis, Immediate Past president and Sarah Lewis OBE.
Matthew Astill, CEO of Cavendish Group, said: “We are very pleased to be taking the Host City awards to the next level, following the success of last year’s launch. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of the best and brightest in the global events community in Glasgow.”
“We’re delighted that the Host City Conference is returning to Glasgow in 2025″, added Glasgow Life’s director of culture, tourism and events, Billy Garrett. “This prestigious annual industry event provides an invaluable platform for international partners in our sector to get together to share experiences and insights, and take part in productive discussions and debates on the key issues, challenges and opportunities that host cities face.”
Rob Dickson, director of industry and events at VisitScotland, spoke of the impact events like Host City have to the local Glaswegian economy: “Events play an important role in our communities, bringing economic benefits, fostering community pride and delivering global recognition. The Host City Awards are an opportunity to recognise and shine a spotlight on the contribution and impact of events, the people who design and deliver them and the innovation they bring.”
