Reservoir Media backs Lightroom to grow immersive IP experiences

London-based immersive entertainment producer, Lightroom, known for experiences such as Coldplay and Prehistoric Planet: Discovering Dinosaurs, has secured a new strategic investment from Reservoir Media.

The collaboration brings together a music rights company and an immersive content producer, with plans to expand globally and develop new shows based on music IP.

Lightroom has established a strong foothold in the immersive market by producing visually-driven, IP-centred experiences. Previous projects include Coldplay’s A Film for the Future, a 360-degree companion piece to the band’s album Moon Music.

The company’s production model integrates storytelling, large-scale projection and sound design to create content that is replicable, scalable and rooted in high-recognition intellectual property.

Reservoir Media, which has made several catalogue acquisitions in recent years, including Tommy Boy Music, Fool’s Gold Records and New State, views the immersive sector as a route to increase the long-term value of its assets.

Reservoir reported $158.7m in annual revenues in its most recent fiscal year, with more than $115m spent on catalogue and rights acquisitions. Its entry into the immersive entertainment sector signals a diversification of strategy focused on driving additional revenue streams from existing IP.

Lightroom’s expansion plans have been supported by a series of strategic partnerships. In May 2025, the company entered a new collaboration with Culturespaces, a leading European operator of digital art centres. The deal will bring Lightroom’s content into Culturespaces’ portfolio of venues, which attract around five million visitors annually across the continent.

The combination of rights access, venue partnerships and a growing global footprint positions Lightroom as a key player in a sector that is forecast to exceed $400bn by 2030. Its investor group also includes Access Entertainment and other major backers with interests in the wider media and music ecosystem.
