New Designers, the UK’s annual graduate design showcase, opens today at the Business Design Centre in Islington. The event runs over two weeks, beginning with Week 1 from 2 to 5 July, and continuing with Week 2 from 9 to 12 July.
Established in 1985, New Designers features work from over 2,500 graduates representing more than 100 universities across the UK. The event is structured to highlight different disciplines each week. Week 1 focuses on fashion, costume, textiles, ceramics, glass, jewellery, metalwork, and contemporary design crafts. Week 2 covers furniture, product design, industrial and spatial design, graphic design, illustration, animation, motion and digital arts, and game design.
Now in its 40th year, the event offers graduating students a platform to present their final projects to industry professionals, recruiters, and the public. The showcase also includes a programme of talks featuring over 100 speakers and participation from more than 60 partner organisations.
New Designers aims to connect emerging talent with potential employers, collaborators, and wider audiences interested in developments across the UK’s design sector. Tickets are available to the public for both weeks of the event.
