The Power of Events, non-profit organisation launched to better understand the UK events industry, has expanded its UK Schools Engagement Programme with the launch of the London Hub, now its largest region.
This comes off the back of its recent expansion of the programme in the Northwest.
The programme helps connect young people in the events industry. Initiatives, among others, provides the younger generation with career pathways into the industry. So far the scheme has engaged over 100,000 people across 400 school visits.
Justine Simons OBE, deputy mayor of London for culture and the creative industries, spoke of why the expansion to London is important: “Culture and creativity are in London’s DNA and our thriving events are a cornerstone of life in the capital contributing billions to our economy and attracting global audiences.
“The London Hub is a wonderful way to help thousands of young people learn more about the opportunities available to them in this exciting industry. It’s important that we all play our part to nurture the next generation of leaders and creators as we continue to build a better and fairer London for everyone.”
Pip Ridgway, managing director at Neg Earth Lights added: “Joining the London Schools programme to support 11-17 year-olds in gaining more knowledge of the live events industry fits perfectly with our commitment to empowering the next generation. It provides a valuable opportunity to equip young people with a better understanding of opportunities in this dynamic industry. We are excited to contribute to their development and help foster a future workforce.”
