DES2025: How AI is changing our world

At the Digital Enterprise Show 2025 in Málaga, day two featured an insightful conversation between Nerea Luis, an artificial intelligence PhD, and Cristina Aranda, co-founder and AI consultant at Mujeres Tech. The session, titled “How AI is Changing Our World,” offered several key takeaways.

Opening the discussion on the theme—whether AI is already changing the world or still poised to do so, Aranda said: ChatGPT is going to change the world and our mindset. People, especially young people, are consuming knowledge and data in a completely different way.”

Both Aranda and Luis explored the importance of data quality, highlighting the need for ongoing improvements in how we manage and structure knowledge.

Luis noted that we’ve entered a new phase in digital interaction. Where online searches were once keyword-driven, they’ve now become conversational, especially among teenagers and younger generations. The shift, she explained, reflects broader cultural changes in how information is accessed and understood.

They also discussed the growing cultural and workplace impact of AI. In the past, basic digital literacy, proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint was a standard requirement. Now, Luis argued, AI literacy is quickly becoming just as essential. She emphasised that companies must begin actively fostering AI skills among their employees to stay relevant.

This shift raises a deeper question: How do we evaluate knowledge today?

Luis offered a cautionary but optimistic note: See AI as an ally, not an enemy but we also need to build the environment for it. That environment doesn’t exist yet.”

The conversation returned to how AI is reshaping not just work but also the way we consume information. Aranda and Luis agreed that while AI enhances access to knowledge, something fundamental is being lost: the human element. Machines may provide answers, but they cannot replicate the complexity, emotion, and nuance of human relationships.

DES 2025 is held at FYCMA, Malaga, Spain June 10-12.
