DWTC Free Zone welcomes Louis Vuitton as first corporate member under new passport initiative

A new initiative from Dubai Free Zones Council (DFZC) means that companies are now able to operate in the emirate across multiple free zones while maintaining a single licence. The programme is set to strengthen Dubai’s position as leading destination for luxury retail and international commerce.

The DFZC’s implementation of the One Freezone Passport is an initiative aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business across Dubai’s free zones and underscores Dubai’s commitment to fostering an investor-friendly business environment, aligning with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA), which operates DWTC Free Zone, has welcomed global luxury brand Louis Vuitton as the first company to leverage this initiative. The company will now maintain its warehouse operations in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) while establishing its corporate office at One Za’abeel, part of DWTC Free Zone. It is hoped the move will streamline business expansion across Dubai’s economic zones.

Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, assistant secretary general at Dubai Free Zones Council, said of the new free zone licence expansion process: “The One Freezone Passport is a transformative initiative that cements Dubai’s position as a global economic powerhouse. By enabling businesses to expand seamlessly across our world-class free zones, we are reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as a premier investment destination. The swift and successful onboarding of Louis Vuitton through this programme exemplifies the efficiency and attractiveness of Dubai’s regulatory framework for international businesses.”

Established in 2015, Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA) is a competitive, Free Zone ecosystem. Located in Dubai’s Central Business District, including the One Central development, it offers more than two million square feet of Grade A commercial office space. The free zone is home to 2,000+ companies representing 40+ industry sectors.
