GovNet launches internship programme for events students

Public sector events provider GovNet has launched an internship programme for London students. The initiative will target students on event management and marketing courses, providing hands-on experience with the UK’s leading provider of public sector events.

The 12-week placements will run across marketing, VIP acquisition and digital operations departments. The first cohort will begin this summer, coinciding with GovNet’s flagship HETT Show. HETT Show brings together NHS trusts, healthcare providers and tech suppliers for one of the UK’s leading public sector healthcare exhibitions.

GovNet partnered with Inspire Connect, an education-to-industry bridge agency, to deliver the training programme. Interns will support HETT exhibitors during the placements.

“People make our industry what it is. Supporting new talent is central to our values,” said Liz Whittingham, director of operations and customer experience at GovNet. “This programme isn’t just about shadowing – it’s about … giving them the space to truly be part of the team and get a feel for the events industry.”

GovNet operates major events including DigiGov Expo (launched by combining four previous events), Counter Fraud Conference, Modernising Criminal Justice, and education shows for schools and higher education.
