Danny D’Alessandro (pictured) will take over as managing director of NürnbergMesse Italia on 1 July, replacing Stefania Calcaterra (also pictured) – who is stepping down after 25 years with the German organiser.
Calcaterra has led the Italian subsidiary since its establishment in 2009. Under her leadership, Italy became the top international exhibiting country at NürnbergMesse’s Nuremberg venue.
“Stefania Calcaterra’s departure marks the end of an era, and also the start of a new chapter in our largest exhibiting country. Our thanks go to Stefania for more than 25 years of tireless effort, passion, foresight and commitment,” said Dr Thomas Koch, chairman of the annual shareholders’ meeting of NürnbergMesse Italia.
Calcaterra joined NürnbergMesse as an international representative in 1999, also working for Spielwarenmesse eG. Her most recent success was launching “Focus on PCB” during the Covid-19 pandemic, which quickly became a meeting place for the European printed circuit board industry in Vicenza. She will continue overseeing this event for two more years.
D’Alessandro brings over 15 years of experience in the trade fair and fashion industries. He holds qualifications in law and an executive MBA. Most recently, he served as general manager at AIMPES Servizi, organiser of MIPEL, the international leather and fashion accessories event, where he managed all business operations.
The new MD – Danny D’Alessandro
“With his expertise in heading trade fairs, his international focus and his sense for industry trends, Danny D’Alessandro is the ideal person to take the success story of NürnbergMesse Italia forward and provide new inspiration,” said Dr Thomas Koch, executive board member.
The transition comes under the umbrella of broader management changes at NürnbergMesse. Recently, multiple executives have departed departures, including managing director Thomas Koch.
