A team of six women from Raccoon Media Group are set to complete a 50-kilometre trek in the Peak District on 2 August to raise funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The challenge is part of the newly launched SheRaces trail series.
The Raccoon Media Group participants are Jo Tyler, Hannah Hopwood, Nathalie Davies, Annie Bennett, Sophie Ferrier and Chloe Hyland.
The route, based in Hathersage, includes approximately 1100 metres of elevation gain. For comparison, Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak, has an ascent of 1352 metres.
Raccoon Media Group, organiser of events such as the International Running Expo and National Running Show, has supported Birmingham Children’s Hospital for several years. Staff have previously participated in physical challenges to support the hospital’s services, which include specialist healthcare and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Birmingham.
The SheRaces trail series was established in 2025 and is the UK’s first female-only trail running series. The inaugural event takes place this year in the Peak District, with additional events scheduled in the Surrey Hills and Shropshire Hills in 2026. SheRaces was founded by Sophie Power, an ultrarunner and advocate for women in sport. The initiative is supported by Her Spirit.
Jo Tyler, COO at Raccoon Media Group, said: “We know it’s going to be tough, and to be honest, I’m a bit terrified. But I’m glad to be doing it with this incredible group of women. We know we have the grit to get through it, even if we aren’t very fast.
“Birmingham Children’s Hospital do so much life-changing work with every penny they raise. We have met many of the children and staff and seen the difference that this money will make to young lives and families who are going through the worse challenges in life. That will drive us forward to keep putting one step in front of the other, and I’m certain the wonderful Peak District scenery will keep us inspired too.”
