Major Chinese lighting exhibition marks 30 years with record attendance

Guangzhou’s premier lighting exhibition has just marked its 30th edition with record-breaking numbers. The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE) attracted 211,173 visitors from 151 regions.

The four-day event ran from 9-12 June at the China Import and Export Complex. It featured 3,188 exhibitors from 20 countries across 250,000sqm of exhibition space.

GILE 2025 ran under the theme “Light for Life” alongside the Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology exhibition.

“This year’s GILE introduced the concept of ‘Light-enhanced Living’, demonstrating how lighting technologies can transform fields such as cultural tourism, smart agriculture, intelligent health ecosystems and home design,” said Lucia Wong, general manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd.

“As we celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary, we are proud of its significant contribution to the development of the global lighting industry over the past three decades.”

Chinese companies driving innovation?

Local manufacturers showcased some of their cutting-edge products. Ningbo SUNPU LED Co Ltd displayed health-focused lighting including full-spectrum human-centric lighting and auto-dimming capabilities.

“For 30 years, Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition has been a key platform for industry collaboration, connecting upstream and downstream enterprises,” said Bing Ye, procurement manager at Ningbo SUNPU LED.

Jiangmen HUAPU Lighting Co Ltd showcased RGBIC light strips with smartphone controls and music-sync functionality.

“As a long-term exhibitor of over 15 years, we regard GILE as Asia’s premier platform for connecting the supply chain, fostering innovation, and driving global business opportunities,” said Jackson Zuo, sales manager at Jiangmen HUAPU Lighting.

International exhibitors

International visitors praised the exhibition’s scale and diversity. Brazilian lighting designer Donato Conte said: “My first visit to GILE has been impressive, with a vast range of suppliers and innovations spanning various lighting fields.”

The show hosted over 100 exclusive sessions covering smart lighting and AI integration. GILE 2026 will run from 9-12 June 2026 at the same venue.
