EN visited the second and final day of the Care Show at Excel London yesterday. The show is dedicated to the adult social care sector with the latest innovations, expert advice and new developments all on showcase.
Organised by CloserStill Media, the Care Show brought together 200 healthcare suppliers across the two days with over 180 speakers.
EN spoke to Michael Corbettt, portfolio director for the Care Show, who told us about Care Show London and this year’s event: “Care Show is one of the largest focused event around social care. It is aimed predominately at the elderly care sector. We have run Birmingham for 20 years, for London this is its second edition.
“You will find everything you would find in a care home from carpeting to solar panels. It is the one event where the industry can come together and really chat with each other, find solutions and grow as a unity.”
He then delved into the show’s content programme: “We went for a different approach this year. We have three celebrity speakers – Anna Richardson, David Baddiel and Rosemary Shrager. The reason we picked those is because they all have links to dementia or elderly care, they have the lived experience. We haven’t picked the names to draw in a crowd but because they understand the industry. We create our content based on key topics so everyone can learn something.”
Corbett then told us how the show developed from its launch show last year: “Last year was the launch and there was the initial buzz. Then you have to ask ‘how do you take that initial launch and keep growing? Focus on two different audiences – how do you get that buying from the delegate and we have done that through better networking; and how you get the exhibitors talking about it”.
Corbett then revealed Care Show’s future plans: “How we look at the show is that it is the middle of your marketing campaign, its not the beginning or the end. It is about the build up and the hype, then you have the show and its about how you close it afterwards. That’s where the show has improved year on year.
“We have big expansion plans, more fringe events, more encouraged networking rather than serendipitous networking. And the aim of that is to get individuals talking more within groups so they feel like they have an ally or someone to share their wisdom”
Now the curtains are closed on Care Show London’s second year, CloserStill Media will be hoping for even bigger and better things when Care Show London returns to Excel London in April 2026.
